Reliable Checks

Comprehensive national coverage

National criminal background checks, done properly

People move around, and they will not volunteer the places they lived, especially if they have a record there. A national check gives the widest coverage and the best chance of finding a record.

  • No account required

Why it matters

Don't be fooled by instant database checks

Half the states in the commercial database contain only incarceration records, not charges or pending trials or not-guilty verdicts. Other records arrive with no disposition at all, so you can see that someone was charged but never learn how the case ended.

An instant check hands you that raw list and calls it a background check. A list of possible matches with no dispositions attached tells you very little.

What we do instead

We go where the records actually live

In addition to the database check, we run an SSN address trace and search every county of residence it surfaces. Our experienced researchers then review the gray-area records by hand, the ones automated systems either miss or get wrong.

Sex offender registry and Department of Corrections records come with the report. We don't sell them as an add-on.

What you get

Everything included in one report

One flat $29.95. Every search below is part of the standard report.

  • National criminal database search

The broad first pass across hundreds of millions of records. People move, and they rarely volunteer the places they'd rather you didn't check. A national search gives the widest possible coverage.

  • SSN address trace

We trace addresses tied to the subject's Social Security number to build a real residence history, rather than trusting whatever locations we were handed.

  • County searches of every county of residence

County courthouses are the system of record for criminal charges. We search every county the address trace surfaces, not only the current one.

  • Manual review by an experienced researcher

A person reads the results and works through the gray-area records: partial matches, missing dispositions, name variations. Automated services skip this step entirely.

  • Sex offender registry check

National sex offender registry sources, searched and matched against the subject's identifiers and known addresses.

  • Department of Corrections records

State DOC records covering incarceration history, which routinely surface cases that never made it into a commercial database.

Simple to order

Three steps, no account needed

Enter the subject's name, year of birth, and their SSN. We'll ask for more information only if the search requires it.

  1. 1

    Tell us who to check

Enter the subject's name, year of birth, and their Social Security number. That's all we need to begin, and we'll ask if anything else turns out to be required.

  2. 2

    We do the actual searching

Database search, SSN address trace, then county-level searches of every county of residence we find. Someone on our team then reads the results by hand.

  3. 3

You get the report by email

A clear written report covering everything we found, including charges and how each case ended, rather than a list of raw database hits.

Questions

Frequently asked

What information do I need to order a background check?

Just three things: the subject's first and last name, their year of birth, and their Social Security number. If we need anything further to complete the search, we'll email you.

How long does a report take?

Most reports are delivered within 2–3 business days. A report covers every county of residence we find, and some county courts are slower than others or require records to be pulled by hand. Where that happens we email you a status update rather than leaving you waiting.

How much does it cost?

$29.95 for a comprehensive national criminal record check. One flat price, with no subscription, no monthly fee, and no per-county surcharges.

Why not just use an instant background check site?

Instant sites query one commercial database and show you the raw matches. In roughly half of US states that database holds incarceration records only, meaning no charges, no pending trials, and no not-guilty verdicts. Many records also arrive without a disposition, so you can see that someone was charged but not how the case ended. We run the database search as a starting point, then trace addresses via SSN and search the actual county courts where the records live.

What can I use this report for?

Personal knowledge and general due diligence — vetting someone before a private sale, checking out a new contact or a date, or reviewing your own record. These are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so screening a job applicant or a tenant is a separate process that runs through a consumer reporting agency, with the subject's consent and adverse-action notices. For everything outside that, this is the report you want.
